Watch your receipt like a hawk! The majority of the time things marked on sale do not ring up the sale price (even with store rewards card). It happens so frequently that I now take pictures of the prices to show the cashier so I don't waste time while they go look. Once in awhile slip up is understandable, but just about every time I go, there's at least one item ringing up for more than it's marked. It starts to feel like more than just negligence but a store wide pricing scam.

This is my local supermarket, and I enjoy shopping here. Prices tend to be on the high side - not unexpected for a smaller neighborhood supermarket. The produce is very nice. The have a nice selection of upscale breads. The space is cozy - in a good way - but well organized. I look forward to seeing what’s on special when I come. Most of the staff who I’ve interacted with are nice, also.

Got 2 packages of meat Sunday night, went to the store to return it but initially didn’t have my receipt. Was immediately reprimanded because meat shouldn’t go bad in 24 hours (first off never did I say I got it 24 hours ago, secondly, the sell by date is the 13th so in no world should 2 packages of meat bought recently BOTH gray like that.) The manager was hostile accusing me of lying about coming in, telling me he’s going to check the cameras. I just kept saying meat shouldn’t look like that regardless whatever day it was… it’s gray and clearly very rotten literally DAYS before the sell by date. This is also not the first time this has happened, just the first time I went back for it. After a lot of arguing and being told I can get more meat today (yes yum that’s what I want right now after seeing how gross it was), I was told I could go pick out something of equal value RIGHT NOW-but almost spitefully. I don’t need anything now thanks though. Anyway, wound up with store credit (card with the managers signature which I’m sure is probably not even redeemable) but what a nasty experience to get there. This was my go to spot in the neighborhood before moving. The staff is very kind, the produce selection is very large, and I was always happy to find a deal in the dairy and frozen section. Check out the local farms that are represented in the meats section, I used to get chicken that was regeneratively farmed locally and it was the same price as Purdue. Highly recommend this spot. Groceries are expensive much like everything else in the world right now but Key Foods was always the best spot for organic and traditional groceries for over two years.
